Kentucky attorney comments on difficulty of ensuring fairness in Steve Nunn trial

Amanda Ross, 29, was found shot to death outside her Lexington home on Sept. 11, 2009. Her former fiancé, Steve Nunn, has been charged with her murder and violating a domestic violence protection order–a crime punishable by death. Nunn pleaded not guilty.

A local attorney recently discussed the difficulty of ensuring a fair trial with The Lexington Herald-Leader:

Warren N. Scoville, a London-based defense attorney who has been friends with Nunn for more than 20 years, said it could be difficult to find an impartial jury.

“The coverage has made it virtually impossible for this man to get a fair trial in the commonwealth of Kentucky,” he said. “The only people you’re going to get on a jury are people who don’t read.”
