Your article on the use of the death penalty in Kentucky (Nov. 6) was timely. It appeared shortly after I attended the Journey of Hope event at Bellarmine University. It was during this event that I met a California man who was sent to death row and served 17 years for a murder he had nothing to do with. Once you see the face and eyes of an innocent man who was sentenced to die, the image stays with you. As we know, mistakes via wrongful conviction happen in Kentucky, too. Isn’t it time we stop legislating executions in Kentucky before it is too late?
Write a letter to your local newspaper and let it know your opposition to the death penalty.
