The stay of the execution of Gregory Wilson remains in place as of 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16. KCADP is incapable of predicting what a higher court might decide about the appeal of the Franklin Circuit Court’s decision to stay this execution and all others until the court can review the execution protocol of the state of Kentucky to see if it complies with the law.
Therefore, all buses to Eddyville are canceled. There will be no vigil in Eddyville this evening.
If KCADP learns later today that a higher court has acted in such a way that the execution will take place, there will be a vigil at Gov. Steve Beshear’s mansion on the capitol grounds in Frankfort at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
KCADP has asked planners for other vigils and events to cancel those. We appreciate the hard work everyone has done to promote opposition to this execution. We believe that Gov. Beshear has received thousands of messages asking him to stop the execution, commute the sentence, declare a moratorium, or otherwise act to quit killing people.
It is our added hope that there are no more warrant requests from an attorney general seeking higher office or re-election to his current office and that all politicians learn that killing people is no way to secure votes.
